Adverse Weather - What To Do

Adverse Weather - What To Do

No matter where you live and work, adverse weather can cause school closures and delays. If you are scheduled to work but there is adverse weather in the forecast, here's what you can do to be prepared!
1. Check your email and phone for updates. These updates can come from HelloSubs, the school, or both. You can also check local news sites and search for your scheduled campus to see if there is a closure or delayed start.

2. Give yourself extra time for the commute. Whether you are counting on your own vehicle, public transportation, or a ride share, your commute can be affected by adverse weather. Make sure you account for any delays in your typical commute time.

3. If you are no longer able to make it to your scheduled assignment, or you are facing delays in your commute and will be running late, contact support@hellosubs.co as soon as possible. Contacting HelloSubs Support is the best way for us to communicate with the school and find replacement coverage if necessary.

4. Stay safe! Your safety is always the number one priority.

School Closed: If the school you are scheduled for announces a closure, we'll update the assignment and remove it from your calendar. In most cases, if one school is closed, all schools in the area are closed but you're welcome to check the map for other available assignments.

Delayed Start: If the school has announced a delayed start, that means your start time is delayed equally.

If you are not scheduled to work but looking to pick up an assignment, you can expect that adverse weather will create a high need for substitute teachers. Keep an eye out for last minute assignments the night before and the morning of!

As always, you can contact support@hellosubs.co with any questions!
