How to Become a K-12 Substitute Teacher in Georgia 🍑

Step 1: Fill out this Reference Contact form. 

Step 2: Sign the HelloSubs Employment Contract.

Step 3: Complete the HelloSubs New Hire Orientation. 


  1. Once you've completed the K-12 Background Check Consent Form and signed your HelloSubs Employment Contract, your recruiter will notify our HR representative at Purpose Built Schools that you are ready to schedule your background check appointment (Your recruiter will cc you on this email.). Within the next seven days, she will email you the date and time of your appointment as well as instructions for where to go. 
  2. After you've completed your fingerprint appointment, please notify your recruiter via email to let him or her know that you successfully attended your appointment. 
  3. Once the above is done, it typically takes 1-3 weeks for your recruiter to receive the results of your background check. Please wait patiently until your recruiter notifies you of the status of your results. 

Reimbursements FAQ 

  1. Will HelloSubs reimburse my out-of-pocket expenses?  
    1. Yes! HelloSubs reimburses your out-of-pocket getting-started expenses — background checks and fingerprints, CPR/First Aid, health evaluation, required trainings, permits and credentials. After you complete five (5) worked days on the HelloSubs platform, email your receipts to support@hellosubs.co with your full name. 
  2. When will I receive my reimbursement?  
    1. Approved reimbursements are paid on the next applicable pay cycle. 
  3. What if I was offered a new-hire or fast-start bonus?  
    1. If your market is running a new-hire or fast-start bonus, that bonus is paid instead of this reimbursement — it is designed to cover these same getting-started costs, not to be paid on top of them. Your recruiter will confirm which applies to you.
