Quick Guide: Qualify for Catholic School Assignments (Houston)

Whether you're Catholic or not, substitute teaching at private Catholic schools in your community can be a very rewarding experience. These schools often offer smaller classes, competitive pay, and a respectful student body making the assignments very enjoyable.

Step 1: Safe Haven Training 

Many of the Catholic schools in Houston on the HelloSubs platform require their substitutes to complete a brief 1.5 hour online training called Safe Haven Training. This online training is free through Catholic Mutual Group Connect (CMGConnect) and must be completed every 5 years.

To register for the course visit CMGConnect and follow the instructions. 

Here's a step-by-step guide:
Once on the CMGConnect website, register for a new account, or login.

You will then need to answer a series a questions.
  1. Under the Account tab, please enter your name and create a username and password
  2. Under Personal tab, please enter your address, phone number, email, and date of birth. 
  3. Under the Affiliation tab, please enter the following:
    1. Select the Primary Parish/School at which you Volunteer or Work. (Search or scroll down to find your parish.): The Regis School - HOUSTON, TX
    2. Please Select a Role : Educator (Catholic School Administrator and Teachers Only)
    3. Position/Area of Volunteer Service: Type in "Substitute Teacher"
    4. I participate as a/an: 4 - PRIVATE Catholic School (Employee/Volunteer) 

Step 2: Tuberculosis (TB) Test Questionnaire

Fill out this TB Test Questionnaire. Your Recruitment Consultant will review the questionnaire once it's submitted and notify you if you have to complete a TB Test.
