Quick Guide for Substitute Authorization in Colorado
Certain schools in the HelloSubs network, such as Denver Public Schools, require a Colorado issued Substitute Authorization or Professional Teaching Credential to qualify. This article provides guidance for meeting this requirement and becoming eligible for these types of roles!
The Colorado Department of Education (CDE) offers three main types:
1-Year Authorization
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
3-Year Authorization
Requires a bachelorโs degree or higher.
5-Year Authorization
Requires current or expired teaching credentials.

4. Submit Your Application
Log in to your COOL account and complete the application. Youโll pay a fee (typically around $50โ$90, depending on the type).
5. Wait for Approval
Once you receive your authorization, contact support@hellosubs.co to be activated for authorization restricted roles!
