Texas ECE Annual Training Requirements (24 Hours)
As an early childhood teacher in Texas, you're required to complete 24 hours of training every year. HelloSubs tracks this for you in the Onboarding Portal. This article covers what counts, where to complete it, and how to submit it.

Completing all five items below gives you 26 hours, which meets the annual requirement. Each one renews every year.

Live Training (5 hours)
At least 5 of your hours must come from live training — delivered in real time, either in person or virtually. HelloSubs provides these for free.
- Register for two 2.5-hour sessions at go.hellosubs.co/ece-training.
- Attend both sessions.
- Upload both certificates to the Live Training (5 hours) requirement in the Onboarding Portal.
If you've already completed live training elsewhere, you can upload those certificates instead — any combination totaling 5 hours works, as long as each certificate shows the training was delivered live.
Circle CDA courses on CLI Engage
The four Circle CDA courses are part of CLI Engage's CDA (Child Development Associate) training program. You do not need to complete the full CDA — only the four courses listed above.
Step 1: Create or log in to your free CLI Engage account at public.cliengage.org. Choose the Public Access account type if you're signing up.
Step 2: From the dashboard, expand the Online Learning section, then select Full Course Catalog.
Step 3: Enroll in or open the CIRCLE CDA TRAINING PROGRAM (SI).
Step 4: Complete each of the four courses. After each one, download your certificate of completion.
Step 5: Upload each certificate to its matching requirement in the Onboarding Portal. Each certificate must show your name, the course title, and the completion date.
Timing
- Your first set of annual hours is due within your first year with HelloSubs. Live Training is due within your first 90 days.
- Every requirement above renews one year from your completion date. You'll get a reminder from the Onboarding Portal before anything expires.
- Your one-time Continuing Education courses (Circle CDA Introduction, Early Childhood Guidance, and Safe) are tracked separately and aren't part of this annual cycle.
