How to Become Emergency Permit Certified (PA)

During your time working at HelloSubs in Pennsylvania, you may be asked to obtain an Emergency Substitute Certification.


Some schools in the HelloSubs network will require this.  Please use this guide to obtain an Emengency Permit.  

**Please note that in order to obtain an Emergency Permit, you will need to have completed a minimum of a Bachelors Degree, as well as live in state of Pennsylvania.


Step 1: Create an account with Teacher Information Management System (TIMS)

Pennsylvania offers various types of emergency permits for substitute teachers, each serving unique purposes. The main types include:



Step 2: Apply for Emergency Permit Application


You'll find the option for this right on the screen after you log in.





















Step 3: Complete the Demographic Details
**If you are applying from out of state, you will need a Pennsylvania address in order to progress.  
Click "next" when you are done

Step 4: Fill out Education Details

Step 5: Fill out any certifications that you might have (if applicable - only if you hold a state teaching license)

Step 6: Fill out work experience, particularly experience in which you had worked with children

Step 7: Complete Affiliation Details
      In this step, you will search for the name of the school that you will be requesting the Emergency Permit with.  Please ask your Recruitment Consultant or Account Manager what to search if you are unsure.

Step 8: Wait for approval
      Notify your Recruitment Consultant and send us the Emergency Permit once it is approved!
