Before you can begin working in Texas early childhood centers, state law requires you to complete at least 8 clock hours of pre-service training. This is a one-time requirement — once completed, it does not expire.
The fastest way to complete this requirement is the Great Beginnings: An Introduction to Child Care course from CareCourses. It's a single 8-hour, self-paced course with one certificate at the end.

The course costs $46. Keep your receipt — HelloSubs will reimburse you (see below).
The course is self-paced and your progress saves, so you can complete it over several sessions.
When you finish, download your certificate of completion and upload it to the HelloSubs Onboarding Portal under the Texas ECE Pre-Service Training requirement.
If you've already started — or prefer — the free Texas Core Competencies for Practitioners series on CLI Engage, we still accept it. It's 10 short courses totaling 9.5 hours. Download all 10 certificates as PDFs and upload them to the same requirement in the Onboarding Portal.
Note that you'll create a CLI Engage account anyway for your annual training courses, so this path is convenient if you'd rather keep everything in one place.
After you complete five (5) worked days, email your receipt to support@hellosubs.co. HelloSubs reimburses your out-of-pocket getting-started costs (pre-service training, CPR, background check). Approved reimbursements are paid on the next applicable pay cycle.
If your market is running a new-hire or fast-start bonus, that bonus is paid instead of this reimbursement — it's designed to cover these same costs, not to be paid on top of them. Your recruiter will confirm which applies to you.
