Quick Guide: How to Become Camp Qualified πŸŽ’ (Colorado)

Interested in Summer Camp opportunities with HelloSubs? Follow the below steps to complete Camp qualification!

ALREADY ECE QUALIFIED? If you have already completed ECE Qualification for HelloSubs, you can skip most of the below steps! Requirements unique to Camp qualification are highlighted in Yellow. ALL below documents must be on file with HelloSubs and valid through August 1st. Check expiration dates on below documents and complete again if needed.

Step 1: Fill out this Reference Contact form.
Step 2: Sign HelloSubs Contract (This was sent to you in a separate email from ZohoSign.)
Step 3: Complete the HelloSubs New Hire Orientation (45-50 minutes)
Step 4: Schedule and complete your Colorado Background Check.

Step 5: Sign the following FOUR online documents.
Document 1: TRAILS form

Step 6: Have you lived outside of Colorado within the last FIVE (5) years? If YES, follow the instructions within this article to complete the Out of State Background Check. If NO, continue to Step 7.

Step 7: A Staff Health Evaluation Form is required for ECE activation. If you already have an employment health form from the Colorado Department of Early Childhood, then you can just upload it to HelloSubs! If you do not already have a signed Health Form, there are several ways we recommend to complete this step:
  1. Colorado CPR Pros: Book Your Appointment
    1. This service is provided entirely ONLINE for your convenience!
  2. Healthcare Provider of your choice
    1. If you would prefer to use a provider you are already familiar with, download the Health Evaluation Form and have it signed by any healthcare professional

NOTE: Staff Health Evaluations expire one (1) year from signature date.

Step 8: Create a PDIS account HERE.  When creating an account, input the HelloSubs license number on registration: 1773516.

Once logged in to your PDIS account, complete the following eight (8) PDIS trainings:
  1. Standard Precautions, including Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases and Immunizations - (expires one (1) year from completion date)
  2. Preventing and Responding to Child Abuse and Neglect - (expires one (1) year from completion date)
  3. Injury Prevention for School-Aged Programs that Regularly Use a Playground - (expires one (1) year from completion date)
  4. Playground Safety for School-Aged Programs that Regularly Use a Playground - (expires one (1) year from completion date)
  5. Emergency and Disaster Preparedness for Child Care Providers
  6. Colorado Early Learning and Development Guidelines
  7. Introduction to First Aid - (expires two (2) years from completion date)

Step 9: Complete your CPR and First Aid Training. NOTE: While the online PDIS course Introduction to First Aid is sufficient for ECE Onboarding, an In-Person CPR/First Aid course is required to be eligible for Lead Teacher job types and be required by certain Camps. It is recommended that anyone seeking Summer Camp employment completes an In-Person CPR course. In-person CPR/First Aid courses must be completed through an approved CDEC vendor. To find an approved vendor, you can use this search tool: https://www.coloradoshinespdis.com/s/approved-trainer.

Recommended course: Colorado CPR Pros
Quick Tip: The CPR certificate must list "Child", "Infant", "Pediatric", or similar to be considered valid for Early Childcare purposes. Any course for Adult CPR/First Aid only will not be accepted.

Step 10:  AFTER you complete five worked days, email out of pocket expense receipts to support@hellosubs.coHelloSubs will reimburse up to $200 for your out-of-pocket expenses (CPR, health check, background check).

Contract renewal, expiring documents, and annual professional development: After initial activation, HelloSubs will keep in touch throughout the year to ensure that all ECE documents are up to date. For more information on professional development and document renewal, review this article.

You’re done! Enjoy subbing early childhood! 😊
